  • Sony Xperia P
    Editor's Rating:
    User Rating:
Good: The Sony Xperia P has a beautiful design and good build quality, with a brushed-aluminum chassis and a bright 4-inch display.
Bad: The Xperia P only runs Gingerbread (Android 2.3) and the battery isn't removable. There's no expandable memory slot and its reception suffers from a "death grip."
Bottom Line: The Sony Xperia P is one of the better handsets from Sony Mobile this year. It has great build quality and the display is bright enough to use outdoors. [Read more]

  • Amped Wireless High Power Wireless-N 600mW Gigabit Dual Band Router R20000G
    Editor's Rating:
    User Rating:
Good: The Amped Wireless High Power Wireless-N 600mW Gigabit Dual Band Router R20000G supports true dual-band connectivity and USB-based network storage. It offers decent range on the 2.4GHz band and very good data rates on the 5GHz band.
Bad: Amped Wireless' R20000G doesn't support the 450Mbps standard, runs hot, and has terrible data rates on the 2.4GHz band and relatively short range on the 5GHz band. The router's built-in USB port doesn't support printers and didn't fare very well in terms of storage performance, either.
Bottom Line: Despite the added features, the Amped Wireless High Power Wireless-N 600mW Gigabit Dual Band Router R20000G doesn't impress as much as the previous model, and hence fails to justify its higher price tag. [Read more]

  • Energy Power Bar
    Editor's Rating:
    User Rating:
Good: Music sounds surprisingly good on the Energy Power Bar. The wireless subwoofer is compact, and the sound bar itself is easy to wall-mount with keyhole slots on the back.
Bad: The Power Bar sounds underwhelming when it comes to movies, especially for the price. You're also required to use your TV's remote to control the Power Bar, which can be problematic with some TVs.
Bottom Line: The Energy Power Bar sounds better than most sound bars when playing music, but there are better overall sound bars available for less money. [Read more]

  • Sony Handycam HDR-CX200
    Editor's Rating:
    User Rating:
Good: Sony's entry-level Handycams, the HDR-CX190, CX200 and CX210 are small, lightweight and cheap. A captive USB cable that enables charging while connected to your computer is one of the few perks.
Bad: You can't really call the video HD quality, the camcorder feels flimsy and the lens is prone to fringing.
Bottom Line: They're cheap and capture video, but don't buy the Sony Handycam HDR-CX190, CX200 or CX210 thinking that you're getting a great bargain on a real HD camcorder. If you're going to buy one, get the cheapest; nothing on any of these is really worth the extra bucks. [Read more]

  • Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 (16GB)
    Editor's Rating:
    User Rating:
Good: The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 is a well-designed tablet with powerful speakers, a responsive screen, and comes with Ice Cream Sandwich installed.
Bad: At $400, the tablet is overpriced compared to more powerful competing tablets that offer better features for around the same price. The tablet’s dual-core CPU has trouble running large 1080p movies smoothly, and its screen color accuracy isn't as high as the previous Tab 10.1.
Bottom Line: The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 comes up short in performance, features, and value compared to competing tablets. [Read more]

  • 2012 Honda Civic NG
    Editor's Rating:
    User Rating:
Good: At current prices, it takes less than $20 to fill the tank of the 2012 Honda Civic Natural Gas, and it produces significantly fewer harmful emissions and greenhouse gasses than its gasoline equivalent models.
Bad: Power takes a hit with natural gas, and the tanks take up more room, yet provide less range, than in a similar gasoline model. The navigation system's maps look rough.
Bottom Line: The 2012 Honda Civic Natural Gas works well as an economical commute car and errand runner, but its average cabin tech falls far short of the cutting edge. [Read more]

Bad: All this power is paired with a lower-resolution screen, killing the high-end vibe.

  • Wacom Bamboo Stylus duo
    Editor's Rating:
    User Rating:
Good: The Wacom Bamboo Stylus duo has pen and stylus features in a comfortable, weighted barrel; ink cartridges are easily replaced, and the stylus tip feels silky-smooth.
Bad: The pen cap needs to be on the back of the stylus to really feel good in the hand as a pen; $40 might be too much for some to pay.
Bottom Line: Wacom's smooth, elegant stylus for capacitive tablets is one of the best we've seen, and adding a pen to the end only makes it more useful: just be prepared to pay an extra 10 dollars for the privilege. [Read more]
